PAST EVENT INFORMATION

CLASSES - Classes form the backbone of
the North East Wisconsin Paddler's effort to promote safe paddle
sports activities and skill development. The club maintains a
strong core of experienced paddlers, certified to provide effective
paddle instruction of various types. All boats, paddles, helmets
and related gear are provided for the classes by NEWP. Registration
fees are split between the host facility and NEWP to cover costs.
NEWP instructors are volunteers; proceeds are used for club boats
and expenses. Visit our CLASSES section for details and our INSTRUCTORS
page for information on ACA certified paddle instructors.

STUDENT
OUTINGS - Each year, NEWP hosts a student outing
weekend for the year's indoor class students and club members.
Usually scheduled for the first weekend in June, students can
choose a whitewater paddle trip on the Red River on Saturday, or a
coastal sea kayak paddle option on Lake Michigan (conditions
permitting) on Sunday. Some students choose BOTH! The club provides
boats and paddle gear as needed for participants. Each trip is led
by qualified instructors assisted by experienced paddlers to
provide on-water support and encouragement.

FOX-WISCONSIN HERITAGE
PADDLES - NEWP has partnered with the Fox-Wisconsin
Heritage Parkway to offer several public paddle events
each year within the 280 mile long Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway.
These events promote and celebrate the historical, cultural,
environmental and natural heritage of this important waterway
through fun and safe group paddle events.
Events planned in 2012 feature
unique paddle venues on the Lower Wisconsin, the Upper Fox and the
Lower Fox Rivers. Settings range from "urban industrial" to serene,
all with great opportunities for birdwatching. Some of the events
include historical/ cultural enrichment opportunities, overnight
camping options and social networking. Click the link for more
information 2012's public paddle events planned from May through
September.

PARK-TO-PARK PADDLE -
From a quiet start in 2002, this urban paddle has become a very
popular event with hundreds of participants from throughout
Wisconsin and beyond. Paddlers travel the heart of the working
river through the Fox Cities, passing 100 year old industrial
facilities and fledgling eagles on the same route! Starting in
Neenah, passing through Menasha and downriver to Appleton,
experience paddling in Lake Winnebago, passing through an active
lock to lower into Lake Butte des Mort and the opportunity to
paddle with lots of people in all kinds of boats!

WOMEN ON THE WATER - This
popular open water adventure is offered by our lead women
instructors for a group of women most years and is planned to be a
wonderful day on the water with a great group of paddle-divas! A
trip on Lake Michigan is usually "Plan A," but if conditions are
not favorable, great "Plan B" opportunities are available on safer
waters. In past years, this event has been held in Kewaunee, Two
Rivers and Manitowoc. Check back for updated information on plans
for 2012!

TOURS AND SKILLS WORKSHOPS - From
time to time, the North East Wisconsin Paddlers hosts skill
building workshops or tours to outstanding paddle destinations.
Sometimes these activities are led by club instructors, other times
outside experts are invited to share their knowledge and
experience. In past years, these have included Navigation
Workshops, Rescue Skill Development, Open Water Paddling workshops,
First Aid/ CPR Training and group paddle trips to Rock Island, the
Apostle Island and other destinations. Contact a club officr or
instructor If you'd like us to host a particular workshop or
tour!

INFORMAL GROUP PADDLE
INFORMATION - Looking for a group of people to paddle
with? There are several informal groups of paddlers who make it a
habit to meet (mostly) regularly at specific times and places with
old (and new) friends to paddle with. The group often includes a
mixture of experienced paddlers and "newbies," and a variety of
boats and equipment, too. Although these are not "official" North
East Wisconsin Paddlers club events, we attempt to maintain current
and accurate information on them for your benefit. So, if you know
something has changed, or have new information - please pass it on!
On this page, you will also find a link to a self-editng Google map
of launch locations throughout northeast Wisconsin.
PAST EVENT INFORMATION
- All of our activities and events are fun, but some are so special
that we like to keep information about them around to check back in
on from time to time. (This is still a work in progress)
